Dream it, Think it, Do it

There's a point during the day, normally toward the end of the work hours, sitting at the same desk, looking at the same view, when you think, 'Is this really what I'm destined to do?' 'Am I going to be doing this for the rest of my life, or even another stinkin' year?' Let's face it, we've all had those thoughts of 'I'm meant to do more' race through our heads. The problem with the majority of the uncommitted population today, is the mere fact that we are actually uncommitted, and even worse, we fear following through with our wildest dreams. When in fact, most people would say they choose not to follow through with their dreams because most dreams can't support a responsible, sturdy lifestyle. Can't there be a way to have both though? To have the sturdiness of a 9 to 5 but the excitement and adventure of things we've only dreamt of?

My attempt for this life begins now. For me, my goal is to travel, explore and learn as much as I possibly can with this fragile life that's been given to me. My day's are not fulfilled unless I have had my "fix" on culture shock. I find myself OD'ing from shows on the Travel Channel, and having this odd sense of satisfaction when they're over. I will however, admit that this addiction only grows, and indeed worsens, the more I continue to stare at the TV watching these shows. Imagining myself standing there right next to Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern. Is it so wrong that I'm living in this fantasy world? Yes, it is.

Is it wrong to sit there and only dream about the things we dare to do? It's not easy to work a 9 to 5 and do all the traveling I need to do to have my "fix". But oh, I dare to say it, this life is possible.

This obsession for more knowledge of other cultures began last summer when I took my trip to The Netherlands. And now this obsession has only gotten worse. This summer I will be making my way to the home of the Brits. My 3 week endeavor will end up sending me back to my native land of Holland. After this summer I see great and daring adventures ahead. This blog will follow these adventures. I hope you join me in this quest to make my wildest dreams come true. And then maybe one day, you will do the same as well.
